Description
This is a nice, early model L 5 hp balltop (spherical hopper) Lister gas engine. SN# on the tag 8xxx should date it pre-1915. It was restored by the previous owner to a high standard, completely torn down and built back up. Yeah, the green is a little off :o)....and it is not the correct muffler but it runs like a top (balltop, actually). These engines are throttle-governed by means of an enclosed centrifugal governor that varies the fuel with the load. The carb is fed by a fuel pump while lubrication to the main bearings is provided by a pump. There is a conrod dipper (splash system) to oil the rest of the working parts. The 5 hp Lister weighs in just over 1,000 lbs; they are heavy-built engines.   You get the original handcrank and a shop-built socket for the sparkplug along with this engine. You can store them in the wooden toolbox on the back of the homemade cart. Pics give best description. You can see the extent of the work done by the inside of the hopper and the last pic gives you an idea of scale. The engine is running in the pics, by the way. Not much to say about it, it speaks for itself. The Listers are excellent runners and this one is no exception. Feel free to ask questions. The engine can stay here through spring as long as it's paid for. Pickup is welcome or we can work something out with shipping. I accept PayPal, cash on pickup, Int'l money orders & good, personal cheques. Thanks for looking. Post Scriptum: The engine is here to sell. Feel free to make an offer if you're interested. Again, I do have automatic decline set up on this one so as not to have to explain why I can't accept 20 bucks for it :o). Oh yeah, and don't use the shipping calculator....what a completely useless tool. Thanks much.
